SSAT Practice Test – What Happens When You Take The Exam?

The secondary school admissions test is given to all students starting in the fifth grade.  You can find the SSAT practice test online for both the lower and the upper level tests. The lower level test is for the students in middle school and the other one is given to all high school students. The actual test is given every year from several locations in a given school district.

The students are being given the SSAT test practice at their schools before the actual SSAT test. The tests are given from October to June and consist of 1 component to assess writing skills and 4 based in multiple choice.

The SSAT practice test is similarly set up, so that when the child takes the actual test they are not blind-sided by anything. The components are similar to the following design.

The writing component is timed at 25 minutes and is an essay. This is not graded but it is sent to the school. The reading and comprehension is 40 multiple-choice questions and the student is given 40 minutes to complete it.

To test the students grasp of vocabulary there are 30 questions about synonyms and 30 about analogies for a total of 60 questions to be answered in a 30 minute time frame. The final component is quantitative mathematics. The students get a full hour for the 50questions, which range from basic math, algebra, and geometry.

The SSAT practice test will give a student the full experience and can be taken over and over again so that you can see how much progress has been made while you continue to teach them the skills they will need.

When a student graduates from High School they will be expected to complete the SAT (scholastic achievement test), this is the test whose scores will determine what colleges they may have a chance to be accepted at.

It is in the child’s best interest to always find the time to help them t study for the SSAT practice test. As the end of secondary schooling draws nearer it may be that you need extra help. There are tutors available online and in your area or you can buy any number of interactive programs for that purpose.
